A small problem can become an expensive repair | | Kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms; they all have multiple water connections. In case a leak develops, you should know where the main water shut off valve is for your home. It will be located in a basement, utility room, or closet. |
 | Check under sinks, behind toilets, at valve stems, and in laundry rooms for signs of water dripping or mineral deposits. |
 | Many small leaks can be repaired by a simple tightening of a fitting. Always shut off the main water supply before attempting any repair. To fix a valve stem leak, open the valve slightly and turn the nut 1/8th to 1/4 turn at the base of the stem. Blot dry with a rag and turn water back on. Never over-tighten any fittings! If in doubt about any water leak, contact a licensed plumber to repair.
